I love the word resonate, especially when used in the context of your website.
Think of your website like a tuning fork.
When your target audience lands on your site your message needs to resonate with them.
“Resonance – when one object vibrating at the same natural frequency of a second object forces that second object into vibrational motion…Resonance only occurs when the first object is vibrating at the natural frequency of the second object.”
When they go onto your website, you want your message to strike a chord in them. You want them to say, “Hey, she is talking to ME.”
Here’s the thing: when you start resonating with people, they resonate back.
That is the secret sauce to an effective website; the first step to starting a meaningful relationship with your website visitors when they land on your site for the first time.
Remember, your frequency will resonate with certain people, and not others.
That is the goal. You don’t want your website to be a megaphone blasting your message to as many people as possible.
Find the people who are looking for you and fit your message to them.
So, how do you resonate with your audience?
One of the most effective ways to connect effectively with the right audience and build an authentic connection with your website visitors is through imagery.
If the images on your homepage look bland, boring and amateurish your website visitors are going to move right along.
Please don’t use stock photos or the picture of you sitting poolside with the margarita cropped out on your website and call it good. It probably isn’t making the kind of statement you want. You can do better. Much better.
Spend the money to work with a photographer, preferably a branding photographer. Trust me. It will be money well spent. Having the right images on your website will help you connect with your audience and grab their attention. It will help you get noticed with the right people who resonate with you.
When you use imagery on your homepage that speaks directly to THEM, your website visitors, you’ll get their attention. They’ll be more engaged, more receptive and feel more confident that they’re going to find what they came looking for on your website.
So, take a look at your website and see if it’s tuned to the right people, and if not… adjust!
