The best time to capture your baby bump is between 32-36 weeks along. This is when your bump has definitely popped, but you are not yet completely uncomfortable.
What if I am having twins?
Since your belly will grow quite a bit more with twins than with just one baby, maternity sessions are best scheduled between 25-30 weeks if you are expecting multiples.
I have children already. Can we have them participate in the shoot?
Absolutely! Having a baby is a whole family affair, and your children will appreciate being part of the memory of the days you were pregnant. Depending on the age of the children, it can be helpful to have a grandma or other care taker at the shoot too so that they can be entertained when they are not being in the photographs themselves. For young kiddos, we usually will include them at the beginning of the shoot, so that they can participate while the novelty of being photographed is still fresh.
I really would love to do more bare shots, are you open to that?
Absolutely! There are many beautiful images we can produce that show off the belly and the shape of your body while pregnant. I am comfortable with as much or as little clothing as you would like. The bare belly / naked silhouette shots are some of my utmost favorites, and can be shared proudly in your home as it shows just the curve of the belly without showing anything more.
How far out should I book?
That is up to you, but weekends book up quite far in advance for me. I usually suggest to schedule a maternity session 6 weeks or more ahead of time to make sure we get the best timing for when you’re between 32-36 weeks along. Unfortunately, I rarely have availabilities earlier than 3 weeks out.
Do you shoot at a studio or my house?
The majority of the time, I capture your maternity photos at your home or a park that you love. While I do have a small home studio, I prefer the honesty and comfort of creating images from your own home. You will love to see the images of your beautiful belly snuggled up on your own couch in the years to come more than a studio set up. Or many who choose the more lifestyle type shoots, enjoy shooting in a park they enjoy. That being said, my home studio is available for shoots when needed as well, and can act as a great backup option when we plan for a park, but the weather changes our plans.
